Exhibition | The GBA Lab Participates in the Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture’s Luohu–Qingshuihe Sub-Venue

○The Luohu–Qingshuihe sub-venue of the 10th Shenzhen–Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB) opened on September 12, 2026, in the Qingshuihe Smart City district of Luohu, Shenzhen. Building on its ongoing research into water and urbanization, The GBA Lab undertook a systematic study of Luohu, with a particular focus on the Qingshuihe area. The resulting research project, What Is Qingshuihe? Narratives of Urban Water Spaces through the Lens of Urban Regeneration, was invited to be exhibited at the biennale, offering a place-based perspective on the relationship between water, urban transformation, and the evolving urban landscape of Luohu.

○ The exhibition is structured in two parts. The first, Narratives of Luohu’s Water Spaces, traces the intertwined evolution of the city, water management, and industrial development along a shared timeline, revealing how these three forces have shaped one another over time. The second, Water as a Medium: Reconnecting City and Nature, follows Luohu’s two major river systems, presenting a selection of representative cases of urban–water coexistence across their catchment areas. Together, the two sections explore how water can serve as both a lens for understanding urban transformation and a medium for reconnecting the built environment with the natural landscape.

○The exhibition traces Luohu’s transformation from a place once constrained by water to one that embraces water as an urban amenity, exploring how water can serve as a catalyst for sustainable urban regeneration in high-density, established urban districts.
