⭘ With the theme "Village (is) Kitchen", Doreen Heng LIU was invited by the Yantian District Government to serve as architect and curator for the Yantian UABB Sub-venue. They hoped to continue the practical approach to urban renovation and renewal explored during the 2015 UABB. Taking Dameisha Village as a sample, they used a consistent methodology of documentary research, field observation, practical intervention, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to explore new ideas or possibilities for community transformation and urban-rural symbiosis in Yantian District. For the architectural section of the exhibition, five architect firms with different design styles from Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen were invited to participate as part of micro-transformations of the buildings. The architects transformed the existing buildings according to local conditions, utilizing their unique creative styles.
