Delta Four: Water & Local

○ On September 22, 2024, the academic conference Delta Four: Water and the Local, hosted by the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Shenzhen University and the Greater Bay Area Innovation Design Lab, and co-organized by New Architecture, was successfully held at the Nature Education Center in Hongqiao Park, Guangming District, Shenzhen.

○ The conference was initiated by Doreen Heng Liu, Distinguished Professor at Shenzhen University, Director of the Greater Bay Area Innovation Design Lab, and Founder and Principal Architect of NODE Architecture & Urbanism. It was academically chaired by Wang Yuan, Professor and PhD Supervisor, School of Architecture and Urban Planning HUST and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, New Architecture Magazine.

Other distinguished speakers included Li Xinggang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Design Master, Chief Architect at China Architecture Design & Research Group, and Professor and PhD Supervisor at Tianjin University; Huang Juzheng, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Journal; Liu Xiaodu, Founding Partner of URBANUS Architecture & Design Inc., Principal Architect of LXD Studio, and Director of Pingshan Art Museum; Feng Jiang, Professor of Architecture of South China University of Technology, Dean of School of Architecture, and Director of Research Center of Architectural History and Culture; Zhang Bin, Founding Partner of Atelier Z+, Visiting Professor at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University; Zhang Zhun, Co-founder of AND Office, and Senior Engineer at Tongji University Architectural Design and Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd.; Fan Yue, Distinguished Professor, Dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Shenzhen University, and Editor-in-Chief of World Architecture Review; and Yang Xiaochun, Professor, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Shenzhen University, and Director of the Shenzhen University Urban Design Research and Innovation Center.

Focusing on the theme of Water and the Local, the conference featured in-depth discussions on urbanization, locality, technological systems, infrastructure, and environmental ecology.
