Academic Symposium | Infrastructural Spatial Practices in Transition

○ Organized in conjunction with a special feature for Architectural Journal on “Infrastructural Spatial Practices in Transition,” this symposium takes the delta as its geographical point of departure to explore two interrelated themes at the intersection of infrastructure and architecture. The first examines the relational dimensions of infrastructure, from the interdependence of water, land, and the everyday practices of human life to the technologies, territorial boundaries, and carrying capacities associated with water, as well as the interplay between its local and global dimensions. The second focuses on innovative infrastructural practices in times of transition, exploring the mechanisms and pathways through which new approaches emerge and evolve. Together, these two complementary strands seek to address fundamental questions facing contemporary urbanism and architecture through new conceptual frameworks, rethinking the scope and boundaries of infrastructural practice and exploring the spatial possibilities of a symbiotic society in the post-urban era.
